2017 Tea Party co-hosted by Auspic Paper, Takeo Co., Ltd., and Nisshinbo

It was my pleasure to be invited to the tea party co-hosted by Auspic Paper, Takeo Co., Ltd., and Nisshinbo. The paper series Vent Nouveau, meaning ‘the new wave’ in French, was released in 1995. The series is also known as ベント・ノイヴァウ (Vent Nouveau) in Japan, meaning ‘amber-like’. Auspic Paper, the agents of Vent Nouveau in Taiwan names it Xīnlàng cháo(新浪潮), meaning ‘the new wave’ in Mandarin. In Taiwan, Vent Nouveau is synonymous with top fine papers and top quality printed matter, hence widely used by designer Wang Zhihong and numerous well-known designers. Vent Nouveau is designed to achieve high levels of printability and is designed to present better printing brightness and to have higher original paper whiteness than other similar types of paper. An in-depth introduction of Vent Nouveau delivered by staffs of Nisshinbo not only well-explicated the details and precautions prior to printing on the papers but also cleared up my worries and doubt of the papers at first.

Overall, this event hosted by the paper industry in Taiwan was a success. The elegant atmosphere of the venue along with precisely organised agenda and exquisite refreshments made a comfortable experience. The professional information provided by the attended companies and Gardencity Bookstore was valuable and beneficial. Seeing so many designers and publishers willing to join this event gave me a strong faith in the future of design, publishing, and paper industries.

The first photo is a paper sample of Colour and Texture on Soap, a publication specifically designed for Vent Nouveau by Kenya Hara. Choosing ‘soap’ as the topic, Mr. Hara gathered precious soap collectables from all over the world and invited photographer Hiroishi Haruko to shoot the soaps in various themes. The publication Color and Texture on Soap aims to introduce the high quality and concept of Vent Nouveau to readers.
